Fortunes in Famine

Charles Jackman, an underground overlord seeking redemption, is struck by lightning and transported to an ancient, famine-stricken village. Here, he inhabits the body of a dead rascal who had been struck by lightning after stealing grain. With a "divination tortoiseshell" from an old monk, Charles can foresee daily fortunes and disasters, locate prey, predict crises, and identify allies. By saving others, earning silver, and mastering martial arts, he transforms his image and becomes his family's backbone.
