Elora, a low-tier mage, is mistreated by her Guardian Drake, a crippled dragon who resents her. She files to replace him and adopts Griffin, a feral werewolf no one wanted. Griffin is devoted and protective. Drake grows jealous and confesses his twisted love, but Elora rejects him. She severs their bond.
